Artist's Statement:

That 2020 has been a year of change is indeed an understatement. Our world has seen upheaval on a scale that is unparalleled in modern times, with the way we live changing within a matter of months. Who'd have believed that when we were toasting on New Year's Day 2020 that we would have witnessed a global pandemic, widespread protests against all forms of social injustice and a shortage of toilet paper, or loo roll as we call it in the UK.

Nevertheless, 2020 has been a year of transformation, positively so, for some of us. For me, 2020 has seen me finally share my art in a meaningful way with the world. My colleagues and friends at the BTMI have cheered me on with each achievement, as I strive to push my work further, and it was an honour answering the call to pull together this collage, as it were, of how destination Barbados made 2020 a landmark year, in spite of the challenges.

From being recognized the world over as one of the friendliest and most caring ports of call for cruise liners, to welcoming a hero who continues to inspire the hearts of millions with his selflessness, even at the tender age of 100 years old, we have managed to be resilient in the crisis and have shown at every step along the way that Barbados cares.

Thank You

Lennon Chandler
